Ask what attribute is claimed, which component it concerns, how it is documented and where the finished pack will be used or disposed of. These questions prevent unrelated environmental properties being treated as equivalent.
Material content is one question
Post-consumer and manufacturing-stream recycled inputs are different sourcing descriptions. Request evidence for the selected component and any percentage rather than generalizing from a paper color.
Use and disposal are separate questions
A durable-looking box may be intended for reuse, but actual reuse is not established by intention. Natural fibers also do not prove biodegradability of a coated, bonded or mixed-material finished pack.
